Mostly two but also four side aisles were used. The difference in the height between nave and side aisles made extra-windows above the aisles possible (\u201eLichtgaden\u201c)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kirchenbau-mittelalter.de\/joomla\/images\/stories\/image006.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Oriental basilika<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201eoriental basilica\u201c is very similar to the basilica, but the difference in height between the nave and the aisles is smaller so that no extra-windows (\u201eLichtgaden\u201c)above the side aisles can be found. As a consequence this type of church is a mixture between \u201ebasilica\u201c and \u201ehall church\u201c (see below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hall church<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here all naves \/ aisles have the same height for an&nbsp; enormous feeling of space.
